Elmwood Cemetery announces the return of the Soul of the City Event & Film this October.

The Soul of the City is an event that showcases the stories of eight individuals buried in the cemetery. These “residents” are chosen for their accomplishments and contributions to Memphis history. Actors dress in costume and, from their final resting places throughout the cemetery, they tell the stories of those who have gone before us. Guests walk along lighted paths to hear the stories of times gone by.

This year, you will meet the victims of the greatest disaster to ever hit Memphis: the yellow fever epidemic of 1878. Hear from doctors, community organizers, martyrs, madams, and more, all of whom lost their lives to the dread yellow fever.

This is Memphis history told in a way you'll never forget. We simply need your help to make it happen.

This October, you can help bring this event to life.

We've changed things up, too, so we can have more fun.

Friday, October 8th and 9th: tours of the cemetery, live and in-person.

Friday, October 15th: a special on-site Cemetery Cinema, featuring the filmed Soul of the City actors.

Signage located at the First Tour Stop will indicate you/your company’s sponsorship, and our deepest thanks. You will receive 12 admissions to the tour, 6 VIP parking passes. Socials, print program recognition, as well as a 20 second commercial filmed and shown during the movie event at Elmwood. $3,000

Last Stop Sponsorship! Guests of the tour will leave with you on their minds. Signage will be located at the final tour stop will indicate your company’s sponsorship, and our gratitude. You will receive 10 admissions to the tour, and 5 VIP parking passes. Socials, print program recognition, as well as a 10 second commercial filmed and shown during the movie event at Elmwood. $2,000

Merchandise Tent Sponsor! Here’s where guests will stop and purchase t-shirts, coffee mugs, original art, books, and more. We guarantee that your sponsorship will be seen by shoppers with signage inside the tent, and out! You will receive 6 admissions to the tour and 3 VIP parking passes.
