Plant a tree in Elmwood Cemetery

Elmwood Cemetery is proud to be recognized as a Level II arboretum, home to 60 different species of trees. Many of these trees are thoughtfully tagged and identified, making a visit to our grounds both peaceful and educational. Throughout the year, our staff hosts Tree Tours to share the stories and beauty of these remarkable trees.

The trees that grace Elmwood not only offer beauty and shade but also provide vital habitat for birds and pollinators. We invite you to be a part of this living legacy by donating a tree to the cemetery arboretum in memory of a loved one, or to honor a living friend or relative.

Choose from the following:

  • Elm, tulip poplar, magnolia, red and white oaks - $600
  • American holly, cedar, cherry, sycamore, red or sugar maple, star or saucer magnolia - $400
  • Loblolly pine, deciduous holly, Kentucky Coffee tree - $300

Make your purchase and we will reach out to you via email to confirm the kind of tree you wish to plant.

Thank you for helping Elmwood continue to grow—both in beauty and in spirit.

Please read the following before purchasing a tree:

All trees are planted in accordance with Elmwood Cemetery's long-range planting needs. We cannot guarantee that trees will be planted near the requested site.

With communicated exceptions, all trees will be watered for the first summer season after they have been planted. If the tree does not survive its first year in the ground, it will be replanted the following season. If the replacement tree doesn't survive, a new tree purchase will be required. There will be no refunds.

Elmwood Cemetery no longer plants crape myrtle, redbud, dogwood, willow, or ginkgo trees.

Maps to the location of your tree will be published on this website. Elmwood Cemetery does not allow memorial plaques, windchimes, or any adornment to be attached to trees.

Elmwood Cemetery will not guarantee the survival of any tree not indigenous to Zone 7b.

Elmwood Cemetery may not be able to guarantee that your tree choice will be available. In this case, staff will consult with you on an alternative tree. Trees are sourced locally and will not be accepted from private collections.

By purchasing a tree, you agree to these terms and conditions.
